Baseball Puts Six On All-MAC Freedom Teams; Three Named First Team

Annville, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team earned six selections to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom teams, as announced by the league office Monday morning.

David Finch (Pitcher), Griffin Zitko (Catcher), and Chip Krese (Shortstop) were the Ducks' three First Team selections; Erik Sibbach (pitcher) and Quinton Sterling (utility) were the team's Second Team selections. Garret Wolf (First Base) rounded out the selections as an Honorable Mention nod.

Major award winners were DeSales' JT Anderosky (Player & Defensive Player of the Year), DeSales' Michael Hooker (Pitcher of the Year), DeSales' Kevin Brade and Misericordia's Shane Patten (co-Rookies of the Year). DeSales also took home Staff of the Year.

Pitcher of the Year for his work as a reliever last season, Finch moved into the starting rotation this season, showing much of the same dominance on the mound. The Brentwood, Tenn. native finished the year 7-1, including 5-1 in seven conference starts, during which time he tossed both of his complete games during the season. He finished the season with 76 strikeouts – a Top 10 single-season program mark – while holding hitters to a sub-.200 batting average (every other pitcher in the conference had at least a .230 batting average against).

Zitko started the year slow but went on a tear late. After recording just seven hits in his first 33 at-bats. The grad student finished the year with 47 hits in his final 111 at-bats, raising his average from .212 as high as .385 before finishing the year at .375, adding team-highs of eight home runs and 40 RBI, including nine games with multiple RBI, including the team's only six-RBI game of the year against FDU-Florham.

Krese followed strong 2024 and 2025 seasons with perhaps his finest year as a Duck, ranking among the Top 5 in the conference in runs, hits, total bases, walks, and on-base percentage. Krese set the single-season program record for runs, while also posting Top 10 marks in hits, doubles, total bases, on-base percentage, and OPS. His 22-game hitting streak from late March through late April was the longest for the program in 20 years.

Sibbach earns All-MAC Freedom honors for the fourth time after a fourth season in which he won at least four games and recorded at least 40 strikeouts. Sibbach became the program's all-time wins leader this year while climbing to No. 2 all-time in innings pitched and No. 3 in strikeouts. He tossed at least five innings in six of his seven conference starts, including three straight 8+ inning outings during which time he allowed just three earned runs and struck out 19.

With just 12 starts in 38 games entering the season, Sterling started 28 of his 35 appearances during the season, putting together a strong campaign top-to-bottom. The junior hit .350, scored 22 runs, drove in 27 more, struck out just 10 times in 103 at-bats while drawing nine walks, and stole 14 bases in 15 attempts. Defensively, Sterling handled all 33 total chances without committing an error.

Wolf batted .355 overall with 38 hits in 107 at-bats. He crushed six home runs and was second on the team with 32 RBI. On the mound, he went 1-1 with three saves and .71 ERA, striking out nine in 12 2/3 innings. In the season-opener against William Paterson, he went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI before going a combined 6-for-8 with a homer and six RBI in a sweep of Delaware Valley. In 14 MAC Freedom contests, Wolf hit .396 with three homers and 14 RBI.

The All-MAC Freedom baseball team is nominated and voted on by the eight conference baseball coaches.
