HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 20, 2016) – No. 5 The College of New Jersey defeated No. 11 the Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team 159.5-102.5 Wednesday.
The loss dropped the Ducks to 1-2 in dual meet action this year.
The Ducks started the meet off hot, grabbing first place in the first event. The 200-yard medley relay team of seniors
Ravi Sun,
Joshua Lefeber and
Tomasz Wolinski along with junior
Austen Young touched first by a mere .09 seconds.
Sun would take home his first individual meet win of the afternoon with 51.74 time in the 100-yard backstroke, narrowly missing the pool record by .62 seconds. Lefeber would finish second in the 100-yard breaststroke, while freshman Vincent Tavolettli also took second in the 200-fly.
Wolinski grabbed second in the 50-yard freestyle, as TCNJ's Joe Dunn set a pool record time of 21.18 seconds. Sun nabbed another first in the 200-back, besting the field by almost two seconds, with freshman
Sam Fuller placing second in the 500-yard free with a mark of 4:52.19
In the 100-yard fly, Young and Dunn posted identical times of 51.53 to split the first place points, and Sun his afternoon with a first place time of 1:56.14 in the 200-IM. The 200-free relay team closed out the day with a second finish in 3:13.48.
The team will be back in action for Senior Day on January 30 against Hartwick College.
