HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 17, 2019) – No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team will play the winner of No. 5 Southern Virginia University versus Wells College in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, April 20 at 6 P.M. at Canavan Arena.
The Ducks earned a bye of the first round and the right to host the regional tournament after the Division III selection committee gave Stevens an at-large bid based on their impressive overall record of 27-5 and their 9-4 record against nationally ranked opponents.

History
Stevens has reached the NCAA Tournament every season since 2013. In 2015, the Ducks became NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Champions with a 3-0 sweep over Springfield in Hoboken. Stevens reached the semifinals in both 2016 and 2017 before returning the the final match in 2018, where Stevens fell to Springfield in straight sets in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Scouting No. 5 Southern Virginia
Southern Virginia earned an automatic bid into the tournament with their 3-2 win over Juniata in the Centennial Volleyball Conference Championship. This marks the first NCAA Tournament berth for the Knights.
SVU ended the regular season with a perfect 11-0 record in conference action. The Knights recorded just three loses over the season, including a 3-0 loss to Stevens on April 5 at Canavan Arena.
Nahuel Recabarren leads the Knights with 4.27 kills per set, ranking sixth in Division III. Recabarren earned First Team All-CVC along with Paul Clark while Daniel Aina and Colby Wilson were tabbed Second Team All-CVC. Kaipo Tagaloa collected Third Team All-Conference honors.
Scouting Wells
The Express earned their first trip to the NCAA Tournament with an exciting 3-2 upset of No. 10 Lancaster Bible in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship match. Wells enters the tournament with an overall record of 27-8 to mark the best season in program history.
Caden O'Loughlin leads the Express with 3.87 kills per set to rank ninth nationally, just behind Stevens'
David Lehman with his 3.99 kills per set. O'Loughlin earned First Team All-NEAC alongside teammate Robert Patzer. Josh Undari was named Second Team All-Conference as he leads Wells with 9.75 assists per set.
