HISTORY! Men’s Swimming Sets Meet Record, Wins MAC Championship for Eighth Straight Conference Title

Ducks Collect 18 Total Medals Across Four Days of Competition

YORK, Pa. (February 16, 2020) – For the eighth consecutive season and the first time as a part of the Middle Atlantic Conference, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team won the conference title after finishing the meet with a MAC Championship record 1519.5 points Sunday at Graham Aquatic Center.

The Ducks nearly broke the MAC record for the largest margin of victory in a single championship, winning the meet by 348.5 points, just 8.5 points from the current record of 357 points set by Johns Hopkins University in 1976. Stevens now sits second on that list despite being in the conference for just one season.

Much like they had done the entirety of the meet, Stevens won the lone relay on the day as Kurt von Autenried, Jonas Lackey, Ali Kolenovic and Theodore Jagodits combined for a time of 3:05.28 to win the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Ducks won gold in all five relays in the meet.

In total, Stevens collected seven gold medals, seven silver medals and four bronze medals for a meet-best 18 total medals.

In the individual races, the Ducks finished with 13 different All-Conference honors collected by six different swimmers.

Overall, von Autenried led the way for Stevens with five separate First Team All-MAC honors as well as one Second Team and one Third Team accolade. Tyler Zanki, meanwhile, became a three-time First Team All-MAC selection and one-time Second and Third Team honoree. The duo were the lone Stevens swimmers who earned First Team accolades in individual events.

Kolenovic narrowly missed on joining them on the first team as he finished as the runner-up in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke earlier in the event.
