COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. (July 10, 2020) – Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming senior
Tyler Zanki continued add to his impressive list of accolades as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named him as an Honorable Mention Scholar All-American Wednesday for his efforts in the pool as well as in the classroom.
It is the third consecutive season that Zanki has garnered the accolade as he posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the spring semester while majoring in chemical engineering. He is the first Stevens men's swimmer to win the award three times in his career since
Dane Pilcher did so from 2014-16.
"Congratulations to Tyler for earning Scholar All-America honors for the third consecutive year," head coach
Paul Hughes said. "This achievement demonstrates the time and effort Tyler has devoted to being his best, both in the classroom and pool; we are very proud of him."Â
The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship. A total of 1,479 swimmers and divers were selected across 209 colleges and universities across NCAA Division I, II, III, the NAIA and the NJCAA.
The Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Swimming Senior Scholar-Athlete, Zanki was a five-time all-conference performer at the MAC Championships earlier this season, including taking home the gold in the 100-yard breaststroke as well as in the 200 and 400-yard medley relays.
In his four years on Castle Point, Zanki has never lost in the 100 breast at a conference meet and is a nine-time first team all-conference selection. Additionally, Zanki has helped the Ducks win four consecutive conference titles and qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 breast in 2019.
