INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 10, 2021)  – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis will head to Richardsons, Texas for the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships to take on Southwestern University, the NCAA announced Monday via press release. The second-round matchup will be hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas. All four schools at the UTD Regional received a bye through the first round of competition.

"We are super excited to continue our season on the national stage at the NCAA Championship," said head coach Steve Gachko. "Our condensed regular season consisted solely of conference opponents so we are eager to travel out to Texas to face some new schools. I'm so proud of how our student-athletes faced and overcame such adversity this season and we are looking forward to celebrating this special time together to close out the year."

Stevens captured the MAC Freedom title Friday afternoon for its 11th straight conference title with a 5-0 victory over DeSales University in Hoboken and will enter the NCAA Championship riding an 11-match winning streak. Junior Marc Feliu was named Most Valuable Player of the MAC Freedom Tournament, after posting victories in both singles and doubles in the championship final. For the season, Feliu won all 10 of his singles matches in straight sets, dropping just 12 games. Stevens was 12th in the Atlantic South Region.

The Southwestern University Pirates received an at-large bid to the national tournament for the program's first-ever NCAA appearance. Southwestern begins NCAA play 14-2 and fell to Trinity University (Texas) in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. The Pirates are ranked second in the West Region by the NCAA. It will be the first meeting between the programs.

On the other side of the bracket, Concordia University Texas will take on Trinity. Both second-round matchups will take place on May 15, with the two winners meeting one day later.
