Fredericksburg, Va. – Lorena Piegas and Julianna Gomez won the Blue Flight Championship as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team closed out the ITA Atlantic South Regional Championship on Sunday.

The duo began Saturday with an 8-1 triumph over Sarah Reich and Mikisha Thomas of Virginia Wesleyan before dispatching Isabella Sorhegui and Sofia Sperandei of Washington College. The twosome continued their strong performance, upending Ridgley Lake and Katherine Raab of Salisbury in the Semifinal Round.

The Ducks also set a program history yesterday when Alix Dry and Stephanie Untermeyer advanced to the Round of 16. They became the first duo to make the Round of 16 in the Atlantic South Regional after having competed in different regionals in the past.

"This weekend was a great opportunity for our team to match up against some of the strongest teams in our region. We were fortunate to travel with eight players, all of whom gained valuable experience that will make us a stronger team in the Spring. Alix and Steph took us another step forward this year, earning the No. 9 seed and making it to the doubles Round of 16.
