Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swim team knocked off Drew University 141-121 in the home finale on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Stevens men opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. The A team of
Leo Timmermann,
Lukas Mikulenas,
Deo Bove, and
Will Stibor touched first in 1:35.80, while the B relay followed in third (1:38.89). Distance swimming set the tone, with
Andrew Gaba placing second in the 1650 freestyle (17:16.44).
Kerem Dogruer (17:49.27) and
Eli Reinhold (18:19.10) added fourth- and fifth-place finishes.
In the 200 freestyle,
Andy Kolecki earned a runner-up finish in 1:50.08, while
Niall Easton placed fourth (1:51.80) and
Bryan Laverty finished fifth (1:54.23).
Ethan Emerton delivered one of the top swims of the meet for Stevens, winning the 100 backstroke in 53.46.
Daniel Shemetov and
Jonah Beth followed in fourth and sixth, respectively. Stevens swept the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke, as Mikulenas won in 59.87 and
Cooper Moffatt followed closely in 1:00.17.
Matthew Beaney added a sixth-place finish.
Butterfly events produced additional scoring, led by Bove's third-place finish in the 200 fly (1:59.45).
Patrick Cortelli and
Will Hyde finished fourth and fifth, respectively. In the 100 fly,
Justin Lee placed third (54.76), while
Gailen Davis followed in fourth. Stibor anchored a strong sprint performance for the Ducks, winning both the 50 freestyle (21.73) and the 100 freestyle (47.99). Timmermann placed third in the 50 free, while Davis finished fourth. Stevens closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay, as the A team of Kolecki, Timmermann, Emerton, and Stibor touched in 3:16.53. The B relay followed in third at 3:23.31, with the C relay also competing.
