HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 15, 2021) – Under the leadership of current Director of Athletics
Russell Rogers, who is in his 21st year in the position, the Stevens Institute of Technology Department of Athletics has risen to unprecedented levels of success.
Under Rogers' leadership, Stevens has finished inside the top 45 in the DIII College Directors' Cup standings 11 consecutive years including a program-best 13th-place finish in both 2010-11 and 2015-16. The Ducks also won the Jostens Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Institution of the Year Award in both 2007-08 and 2012-13, while also finishing as the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey DIII Cup Winner in seven of the last 10 years.
The Department of Athletics will look back into the archives to reflect on the development's evolution under Rogers. Each week, key moments will be highlighted that happened "This Week in Stevens History."

March 15, 2013 – Servito Becomes Empire 8 Indoor Field Athlete of the Year
Men's track and field standout
Victor Servito closed his indoor track and field career with a bang as he was named the Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year after a stellar senior season.
Servito re-established his own school standard twice in the heptathlon and finished second overall on both occasions. At the Empire 8 Championships, Servito earned First Team All-Conference honors by winning the 60-meter hurdles in a then-school record time of 8.43 seconds while also being a part of the 4x400-relay team that placed second overall.
March 16, 2013 – Current Head Coach Joe Favia Becomes Two-Time All-American
In his senior season, current head wrestling coach
Joe Favia became the second Stevens wrestler in program history to garner multiple All-American accolades after finishing fifth overall at 165 lbs at the NCAA Championships.
Favia continued a string of four straight seasons that a Duck finished within the top-eight nationally after Ryan Bridge was a two-time All-American in 2010 and 2011. Favia completed his senior campaign with a 32-3 overall record and closed his Stevens career with a .914 winning percentage.
March 16, 2011 – Men's Lacrosse Earns 13-10 Road Victory over No. 10 Lynchburg
Nicholas Philippi turned in a hat trick while Brandon Faubert,
Kevin Rose,
Alex Hofrichter and Christian Saley added two goals apiece to lead the Stevens men's lacrosse team to a thrilling 13-10 victory over No. 10 Lynchburg.
After falling behind 3-0 early in the contest, the Ducks responded with three goals of their own over the final eight minutes of the first quarter to tie things up. Later in the contest tied at 4-4, the Ducks rattled off five consecutive goals over the course of two periods to put the contest out of reach and cruise to their sixth straight win to start the 2011 season.
March 16, 2010 – Softball Earns First Win in Program History, Defeating Scranton 11-9
In their first season as a varsity program on Castle Point, the Stevens softball team earn its historic first victory in its fifth game of the year, defeating Scranton 11-9 in eight innings.
The Ducks jumped ahead 3-0 and 9-4 in the contest but had to hold off a late rally by the Royals who tied the contest at nine to send things to extra innings. In the eighth, the Ducks got an RBI groundout from
Clair Strom and added another run when Naomi Sacks raced home on a passed ball.
Molly Herforth then closed the door in the bottom half of the inning to seal the first win in program history for the Ducks. Stevens would go on to win eight games in the 2010 season and 21 in season number two.
March 17, 2010 – Women's Lacrosse Climbs to No. 8 in IWLCA Poll, Highest Ranking in Program History
After starting the season 4-0 with a win over No. 8 Union, the Stevens women's lacrosse team earned its highest ranking in the history of the program, climbing all the way to No. 8 in the IWLCA Poll.
Stevens, which was ranked 10th in 2009 after a 15-0 start, climbed from No. 11 to No. 8 in the poll to best the previous-high watermark set just one season prior. The ranking proved to be accurate, as the Ducks would go on to finish 17-3 on the season and win their first-ever Empire 8 Title while also winning their first NCAA Tournament game in program history.
March 17, 2005 – Men's Volleyball Captures NECVA Metro Crown with Win over No. 7 New Paltz
Chris Bock recorded a match-high 25 kills to lead the Stevens men's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over No. 7 SUNY-New Paltz to capture the NECVA Metro Regular Season title.
With the win, the Ducks improved to 20-6 overall and 11-0 in NECVA competition. Stevens would go on to finish unbeaten in conference competition and knocked off Medaille in the NECVA Championship Match to sweep both the Regular Season and Tournament titles to advance to the Molten Final Four.
March 18, 2020 – Cook Becomes Men's Basketball's First All-American
Just one year ago, men's basketball standout student-athlete
Spencer Cook wrapped up his illustrious senior season and became the first player in program history to earn All-America status as he was named a DIII Third Team All-American by the National Basketball Coaches Association.
Cook led the team in scoring in 2020 with 19.2 points per game and finished the season in seventh place on the program's all-time career scoring list with 1,316 despite missing a large portion of games in his junior season.
March 18, 2015 – Men's Tennis Earns Fourth Win over Ranked Opponent in 2015 Season
The Stevens men's tennis program toppled No. 22 Wisconsin-Whitewater 6-3 to defeat their fourth ranked opponent in less than three weeks. Prior to the season, the Ducks has knocked off just two teams ranked inside the ITA Top-40.

Michael Feldman,
Ben Foran,
Charles Drake,
Danny Polk and
Kyle Henry all picked up singles victories while
Antonio Perich and Feldman combined to win on line three singles for the Ducks.
March 20, 2015 – Koester Becomes Second Men's Fencing All-American in Program History
Stevens men's fencer
Logan Koester made history in 2015 when he became the first student-athlete in 58 years to be earn All-American accolades after he finished eighth at epee in the NCAA Championships.
Koester went 13-10 overall in the championships with 84 touches while receiving just 81 to give him the top spot amongst Division III opponents. He joined Nick Mestanas (1957-58) as the only two men's fencing student-athletes in the history of the program to earn All-American status.
March 20, 2011 – Baseball Sets Program Record with Eight Doubles in Victory over CCNY
In a dominant 17-2 victory over the City College of New York, the Stevens baseball team set a new program record with eight doubles in a single game.
The Ducks got production from up-and-down the lineup in the victory, led by
Matt Glassman and Jose Arismendi who combined for six hits and six RBIs in the victory. As for the doubles, the Ducks got two-baggers from
Dan Allen (two), Denis Ackermann, Arismendi, Glassman (two), Mike Caruso and
Tyler Courter to break the record that still stands today.
March 21, 2015 – Brittany Geyer Becomes Three-Time Swimming National Champion
One night after claiming the second national championship of her historic career, senior
Brittany Geyer won the national title in the 200-yard breaststroke to become a three-time national champion in the pool.
Geyer, who is the first and only swimming student-athlete to be a three-time national champion, won the 200-breaststroke in 2012 and on the 100-breast on the first day of competition in 2015. In her final race as a Duck, Geyer turned in a final time of 2:14.66 to earn her third title and defeat the second-place swimmer by more than one full second.
